The underlying concept for my work is energy, the force inherent in all things, animate or inanimate. I explore different manifestations of it be it in natural objects, the land, or special sites.
I live and work in Northfield, Minnesota with extended sojourns in Europe and Asia. My art has been exhibited nationally and internationally. I also enjoy teaching adults and children, be it as an artist in schools or for the Split Rock Arts program, the Compleat Scholar, and Elder Collegiums.
I grew up in Austria near mountains and ended up in the Midwest near lakes. Through a string of fortunate accidents I had the chance to go to College and Graduate School in America : a set of B.A. and M.A. degrees in English from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill; and after a long interval a set of degrees in art: B.A. from St. Olaf College and an MFA degree from the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis.
